IPROMO 2017 Summer School: Environmental and economic issues to enhance mountain sustainability

The tenth International Programme on Research and Training on Sustainable Management of Mountain Areas (IPROMO), organized by the Mountain Partnership Secretariat, the University of Turin, Italy and the University of Tuscia, Italy, will focus on “Environmental and economic issues to enhance mountain sustainability”. It will provide an overview of the main issues related to sustainable mountain development, ranging from watershed, natural resources and soils management to disaster risk reduction, climate change, economic development, mountain forestry and governance. These key challenges and opportunities related to mountains will be discussed during the course and working groups will be formed, allowing participants to share their knowledge and build a network of experts.

Activities will begin on 5 July with an overview of the course and end on 19 July with a closing ceremony; the course will include lectures, seminars, group work and field trips. The lecturers will be experts from the UN system, universities, international organizations and NGOs.

About 30 professionals will be admitted to the course and preference will be given to participants coming from countries and organizations which are members of the Mountain Partnership. Those who are interested in participating can register online and upload their curriculum vitae as a Word or PDF file. Applications should be sent by 3 April 2017 and applicants can expect a reply by end of April 2017.
