Forum “Origin, Diversity and Territories”

Bulle, Fribourg, Switzerland
From: 01.12.2017 to: 01.12.2017

The Forum “Origin, Diversity and Territories” (ODT) is an international platform for the exchange of practices and knowledge on cultural and biological diversities, territories and products for which their quality is linked to their origin. The Forum brings together a global panel of actors (territory actors, academics, policy-makers, researchers, etc) engaged in a new way of thinking, one in which identity, origin, quality and local diversities are drivers for territorial development.

The fifth edition of the Forum ODT will celebrate mountains with the theme “Envisioning Mountainous Sustainable Food Systems”, exploring mountainous territories’ richness and dynamism.

Twenty-one project managers from seven mountainous massifs across five continents and actors from multiple backgrounds will get together to exchange, study and learn about the innovative initiatives for building sustainable food systems that are flourishing in mountain areas. Participants will include representatives from the Forum’s co-organizers the Swiss Federal Office for Agriculture, the Mountain Partnership, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Slow Food, the Centre for International Cooperation in Agronomic Research for Development, Group of Scientific Interest around Localized Agrifood Systems, the Master Food Identity and the Biocultural Diversity and Territory Platform.
