Terra Madre Mountain Producers

Turin, Italy
From: 21.09.2018 to: 21.09.2018

The Mountain Partnership and Slow Food will be holding an event at Terra Madre Salone del Gusto on mountain products: preserving tradition, promoting innovation.

From the mountains to the fork, the promotion of mountain agriculture can preserve mountain agrobiodiversity and improve the livelihoods and the economies of mountain communities, some of the poorest in the world. This high-level panel will lay out some of the opportunities that mountain products offer to mountain communities to improve their livelihoods while preserving biological and cultural diversity focusing on production and consumption, marketing and the social and scientific perspective. It will focus on which policies are in place to protect those who choose to live in the mountains and promote the work of the new generations who invest their own future in these difficult territories.

Speakers of the event will include Mountain Partnership Steering Committee chair Grammenos Mastrojeni, Slow Food Secretary General Paolo di Croce and CEO EATALY Francesco Farinetti. Mountain Partnership member, Anita Paul from the Pan Himalayan Grassroots Development Foundation will also participate to share her experiences.

Every two years, Terra Madre Salone del Gusto brings chefs, scientists, food producers, students, designers, farmers and politicians together to work toward a food system where good, clean and fair food is available for everyone. brings chefs, scientists, food producers, students, designers, farmers and politicians together to work toward a food system where good, clean and fair food is available for everyone.
