The Russian Geographical Society, established by supreme order of Nicholas I of Russia in 1845, is one of the oldest geographical societies in the world. Since its foundation and until present, the Society is a unifying force for specialists in geography and related sciences, as well as for travelers, public figures and all those who seek to know Russia better and to preserve its natural wealth. The Russian Geographical Society’s key activities are expeditions, research, education and awareness-raising, environment protection, publishing and grant activities, youth work. |
