The mission of the Ministry of Environment, Ecology and Forests aims to safeguard Madagascar's wealth and unique environment for current and future generations through stakeholder commitments (ministries, domestic and international NGOs, donors, local governments).

Geographic scope: the total area of the Island of Madagascar, which is 587,040 square km of marine, coastal and terrestraial area; 581,540 square km of land; 5,500 square km of water and 5,600 km of coast.
