Altai Assistance Project, Inc.

Since 2003, a Montana and New York State - based nonprofit, Altai Assistance Project Inc. (AAP), a U.S. 501(c)3, has been working in the Altai Republic of Russia (http://eng.altai-republic.ru/) aiming at promotion of sustainable mountain development in similar mountain areas of the US, Russia (mostly in the Altai Republic) and the world (Nepal and others).

Working through extensive professional level personnel exchanges and sponsorship of activities in the Altai, AAP has concentrated on five thematic areas: 1. Strengthening of management and conservation systems of Altai protected natural areas, 2. Promotion of sustainable land use, 3. Demonstration of alternative energy use, 4. Development of community based tourism network, and 5. Conservation of natural and cultural heritage of mountain communities.
