The Porter Voice Collective was born out of the desire to listen to, celebrate, amplify and elevate the voices of the porters in the trekking tourism industry worldwide. They aim to bridge the gap of knowledge between tourists that walk the mountain trails and the men and women who are the core foundation of the trekking tourism industry. They are creating a collection of global voices by sharing stories as told by the porters themselves in the three most influential trekking tourism industries in the world: Peru, Nepal and Tanzania. The Porter Voice Collective utilizes all forms of media as a means to create advocacy towards the creation of Workforce Equity Tourism, which ensures that companies and the industry as a whole respect the basic human rights of porters and adhere to equitable treatment of all individuals who work in the trekking tourism industry. |
