The Saudi Geographical Society (SGS) was established in 1984 at King Saud University in Saudi Arabia. The SGS is a national, non-governmental, professional organization devoted to the development and promotion of the discipline of geography through the initiation and coordination of research, instruction and events. The organization aims for excellence in deepening and expanding the geographical knowledge of specialists and members of society, and utilizing their skills for projects in civil society, development and the environment, both in Saudi Arabia and the world. The SGS maintains a database of geographic information and publishes maps and a scientific journal, The Arabian Journal of Geographical Information Systems. |
