TerraGraphics International Foundation (TIFO)

TIFO is an interdisciplinary group of scientists that specialize in reducing health risks associated with mining and other hazardous industries. TIFO assists communities, governments, universities, and other NGOs to address environmental exposures by using participatory processes to drive community-led solutions to environmental injustices. Our projects are firmly rooted in collaborative, grassroots approaches to addressing health issues associated with environmental contamination. Our work adapts scientifically-sound environmental health intervention and remediation methodologies to local cultural and socio-economic conditions. We rely on global networks of experts and organizations to address complex environmental health challenges, recognizing that indigenous peoples and mountain communities suffer disproportionally from the impacts of mining and legacy hazardous wastes.
