The Farmer Cooperative ‘Alysh Dan’ was established in 2008 and currently comprises 1 200 members, including 74 households of bio-farmers. The cooperative produces organic products for domestic and export markets. Alysh Dan is located in the mountain village Kara-Bak, in the Batken region in the south of Kyrgyzstan. Alysh Dan cooperative shares the Mountain Partnership goal of achieving sustainable mountain development around the world. It addresses sustainable agriculture in mountain regions through the promotion and implementation of organic farming initiatives that can improve the livelihoods of local mountain communities of the Batken region. |
