New mountain research and development issue

The newest issue of Mountain Research and Development,Vol 38, No 3 is now available online. 

Papers in this issue cover a broad range of topics including the foresight process as a means of conservation in a national reserve in Peru, local perception of a dam construction project in the Darjeeling Himalayas and regeneration patterns of key tree species along an elevational gradient in the Garhwal Himalayas. Water-holding characteristics of different forest litter layers in a karst region in China, the role of Acacia decurrens inforest cover, livelihoods in the highlands of Ethiopia and a high-resolution map of the world’s mountains are also included in this issue. Additionally, the issue discusses the Global Mountain Explorer, an open access tool that produces and compares maps of mountain areas worldwide, and immigration of refugees to mountain areas in the European Alps as a source of social innovation.

The Mountain Research Development journal publishes peer-reviewed articles presenting original research on mountain environments and people, sustainable mountain development, and mountain development experiences. Coverage ranges widely, from topics in the natural sciences to anthropological, economic and sociocultural issues. The target audiences are the scientific community and policy- and decision-makers.
