Summer 2021 field school to be held in the Carpathian Mountains

10.11.2020

To build the capacities of future leaders, the Grassroots Institute has announced a ten-day international summer field school on mountain ecosystems and resource management to take place on 11-20 August 2021 in the Carpathian Mountains of Ukraine.

The international training programme examines mountain ecosystems in contexts of human development and natural resources, principles of managing natural resources, and governing the resources for sustainable conservation. It considers how different social, political, economic, cultural and gender aspects compete for and sustain the natural resources in mountain ecosystems. The programme also examines how environmental activists and their interventions conserve parks, energy, water and land in the face of climate variability.

Forty international participants will be selected to participate in the summer field school, which will be conducted in English. The programme aims at equipping researchers, students, practitioners and teachers seeking to learn more about mountain ecosystems and sustainable development, with practical approaches, knowledge and skills necessary for meeting today's challenges of sustainable use of natural resource management globally. This international training programme will be executed in partnership with various academic and practice-oriented organizations.

Scholarships are available. All interested applicants are invited to learn more about the programme by reading the full details of the Grassroot Institute's website. The deadline to apply is 31 January 2021.
