New issue of eco.mont journal now available

30.07.2017

The latest edition of “eco.mont – Journal of protected mountain areas research and management” is now available online and in print. The papers in the July 2017 issue draw readers’ interest to the floristic features of Mount Cavallo in Italy; introduce us to the white-clawed crayfish in Italy, and to two species of special botanical value in Poland; discuss the pros and cons of OpenStreetMap data for protected areas management; suggest the need for relevant management strategies for geocaching in national parks; explore white-water recreationists’ crowding perceptions and preferences of river trip scenarios; show us a series of 12 cartoon frames for seeking appropriate management agreements; summarize the workshop on Wildlife and Winter Sports Activities; report on the 2017 EuroMAB Conference in France; and document a five-year experience of a cooperation between a biosphere reserve and a university.

eco.mont was founded as a joint initiative of the Alpine Network of Protected Areas (ALPARC), the International Scientific Committee on Research in the Alps (ISCAR), the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW) and the University of Innsbruck. It offers a platform specifically for scientists and practitioners working in and on protected mountain areas in Europe and overseas where to publish their work. Target audiences of the journal are scientists from all related disciplines, managers of protected areas and an interested public including practitioners, visitors and teachers. The July 2017 issue of eco.mont is available by open access from the Austrian Academy Press and in a printed version from Innsbruck University Press.
