7th edition of African Mountains’ Echo out now

08.08.2017

The seventh edition of “African Mountains’ Echo: the Voice for Sustainable Mountain Development in Africa”, produced by the Albertine Rift Conservation Society (ARCOS) in collaboration with the Africa Mountains Regional Forum with financial support from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), is now available online.

This issue of African Mountains’ Echo includes an article on Mount Kadam and its importance to the Kadam people of Uganda , looks at drivers of change on Mount Cameroon, and shares details of the two-day workshop “The Role of Women in Mountain Regions”, held in Alpbach, Tyrol, Austria on 18-19 April 2017. The workshop discussed women’s situation in mountain areas around the world and the importance of their specific knowledge, expertise and contributions to people’s lives, their co-existence and survival.

Under the section “Portrait of the African Mountain Partnership Members”, ARCOS highlights the organization Total LandCare Malawi, who joined the Mountain Partnership in May 2016. The last section of the newsletter discusses events that recently took place and raises awareness about upcoming events such as International Mountain Day 2017 and the second Mountain Communities Exchange Workshop in Rwanda.
