CHINAR facilitates youth education in Uttarakhand

12.08.2019

CHINAR in India has begun a partnership with the Wipro Foundation to promote an environmental sustainability education programme in the mountainous Uttarakhand state. The Wipro Foundation is a philanthropic group that works in the areas of education, community, environment and sustainability, and is part of Wipro, an Indian multinational corporation. The two organizations signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) earlier this year, which initiated their joint project.

The “Wipro earthian programme” began in July 2019 and is scheduled for completion in March 2020. The programme is being implemented in schools and colleges throughout India, teaching students about topics such as water, waste, food and biodiversity. While the programme introduces the concepts to students in grades 7 to 12, it dives deeper into the material at the college level.

The Wipro Foundation is implementing the earthian programme throughout India, and has chosen to join hands with CHINAR specifically for the programme’s implementation in the state of Uttarakhand.

As part of the programme, CHINAR will organize a workshop on these topics using a tool kit predesigned by the Wipro Foundation. CHINAR will be promoting the earthian programme in more than 25 schools and colleges throughout Uttarakhand.

Participating students will prepare relevant projects, and their work will be reviewed by a national committee. The programme will conclude with a national ceremony in Bangalore, in which programme winners will be recognized.
