15.08.2019

The Mountain Partnership Secretariat Annual Report 2018 is now available online. In it, the Mountain Partnership Secretariat (MPS) reflects on its key achievements in promoting sustainable mountain development in 2018. The annual report documents the Secretariat’s work in the areas of advocacy, communication and knowledge management, mainstreaming mountains, promoting International Mountain Day, brokering joint action and leading capacity development initiatives.

This publication highlights noteworthy achievements, such as celebrating International Mountain Day with more than 100 events in over 35 countries, and training participants of the International Programme on Research and Training on Sustainable Management of Mountain Areas (IPROMO) on topics such as bioeconomy. The report also features a spotlight section, providing a sampling of the work of Mountain Partnership members throughout the year.

Although it is not a comprehensive report of all members’ activities, the annual report is a chance to celebrate and appreciate the many national, regional and international collaborations, institutional strengthening, capacity development initiatives, thematic conferences and scientific reports that have happened within the framework of the Mountain Partnership in 2018.

“The year 2018 was one of action for the Mountain Partnership. From working with communities, engaging with policy-makers, producing knowledge and building capacities, Mountain Partnership members applied themselves energetically to creating positive change, building partnerships and raising the visibility of mountains worldwide,” said Yuka Makino, MPS Coordinator, in her opening message.
