Volunteering with the MP Secretariat


The Mountain Partnership Secretariat (MPS) is especially grateful for the support of its volunteers and interns, including Yanko Dzhukev, from Bulgaria, who was an intern during January-April 2016. Before joining the Secretariat, Yanko contributed to initiatives of the MPS, such as promoting the inclusion of mountain issues in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the 21st session of the Conference of the Parties (COP21) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Paris, France. He gained additional experience in advocating for sustainable mountain development (SMD) while assisting as Vice President of Global Affairs and Outreach of Utah International Mountain Forum, a coalition of student clubs at Utah Valley University, of the hosting through student efforts the Fourth International Women of the Mountains Conference under the umbrella of the Mountain Partnership in Orem, Utah, United States, in October 2015. Currently, Yanko is continuing to gain experience within the UN system as an intern in the Office of Legal Affairs at the UN Secretariat in New York, and he continues contributing to the SMD agenda by assisting the MPS withvarious advocacy campaigns.
