Renewable energy in the mountains of Argentina

Renewable energy is the future of Argentina, said the National Committee for the Sustainable Development of Mountain Regions of Argentina. President of Argentina Mauricio Macri has promoted the strengthening of investments in this sector to include the country in the use of renewable resources. In this context, the National Committee for the Sustainable Development of Mountain Regions met to analyse the study carried out by the Argentine Army and the Renewable Energy Project in Rural Markets (PERMER) to set up solar panels allowing for the supply of energy to mountain shelters in Pino Hachado, a mountain pass through the Andes. A visit was made to the location where the equipment, which would allow to heat and maintain communication with the shelters, would be installed.

The National Committee for the Sustainable Development of Mountain Regions articulates mountain-specific strategies to be carried out together by competent national organizations. It coordinates activities to achieve synergies and facilitate common work for defining proposals for the sustainable development of mountain areas in Argentina.
