Mountain Ecosystems: Towards a Multidisciplinary and Sustainable Land Management (in Spanish)

The Centro Agronómico Tropical de Investigación y Enseñanza (CATIE), or Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Centre, has offered a training programme whose theme centres on the multidisciplinary and sustainable land management of mountain ecosystems. The programme will involve capacity development and innovative processes regarding rural development in Latin America and the Caribbean. By strengthening the skills and reinforcing the capacities of each participant, the event is sure to provide a strong understanding of sustainable development of mountain ecosystems. The academic programme includes both short courses and strategic courses, technical workshops, both onsite and online, and other options that are held in different periods of the year.

The objective of the CATIE training activities is to improve and update the technical and scientific capacity of professionals within the public sector, government institutions, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) and the private sector in forestry. CATIE also allows better access to knowledge, information and technology by developing activities using appropriate materials from small and medium-sized producers.

Training is one of CATIE’s strategic functions, largely due to the intrinsic relationship among research, education and innovation for development, which ensures that a high level of quality, technical and scientific training is offered.
