1-WHAT PROMPTED YOU TO APPLY FOR A POSITION?

A professor of mine at Brigham Young University told me about a contact she had at the Mountain Partnership Secretariat (MPS) at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and since I had always been interested in working at FAO, I thought it would be a great opportunity.

2- WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF IN YOUR WORK WITH THE MOUNTAIN PARTNERSHIP SECRETARIAT?

Growing the Facebook. While I worked there, the Mountain Partnership Facebook had this stint of really good photos that received a high number of views. I also helped raise the number of Facebook followers while I was a volunteer.

3- WHAT DOES A NORMAL DAY AT WORK LOOK LIKE FOR YOU?

I get in, check my email for assignments and then dive into the internet to get to work. There are welcomes for new members, photos to match the events and keeping up to date on the news so we are posting in time with actual events. The Facebook posts have to be diverse because no one is reading the same kind of thing three days in a row, so balancing news, events, announcements and posts about mountains themselves or the different factors that affect mountains daily.

4- WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE SOMEONE WISHING TO JOIN AS VOLUNTEER?

Be prepared to work. Photo research or finding the right words to describe something can be the most difficult part of your day, but when you find that perfect word or get the phrasing just right or find the most representative photo, you feel really accomplished.
