Celebrating the national-level World Food Day 2019 event in Nay Pyi Taw

In collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, FAO Myanmar office joined global celebrations to mark the World Food Day 2019 with a ceremony organized at the office of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation in the capital Nay Pyi Taw on 16 October.

Vice President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar H.E. U Henry Van Thio addressed the event with the participation of about 300 attendees including Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Representatives from Parliament, senior government officials from concerned departments, Representatives of UN agencies, Diplomats and development partners.

During his opening remark, the Vice President appreciated FAO’s continuous technical and financial assistance in agriculture, livestock and rural development sectors for food security and sustainable development of Myanmar.

At the event, FAO Representative in Myanmar Ms Xiaojie Fan delivered the message of FAO Director-General. The participants also watched the World Food Day 2019 video which was one of the sessions in the agenda.

At the event, FAO had three stalls providing information on its work in Myanmar. The Vice President visited FAO’s booths and closely observed the images of activities as well as the publications.
