The world’s forests act as shields, keeping humans safe from zoonotic diseases, such as coronaviruses. Their destruction canhave devastating consequences not only for climate change and biodiversity loss, but also for global public health. However, REDD+ and the conservation and sustainable management of forests can provide opportunities to both recover from COVID-19 and prevent future pandemics.
This publication provides an overview of various aspects of boosting transparnecy of forest data for climate action.
