FAO reaffirms its commitment for Yemeni’s resilience

FAO representatives with the Yemen's Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Othman Hussein Mujali

6 March 2018, Cairo -- FAO Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative for the Near East and North Africa Abdessalam Ould Ahmed and FAO Representative in Yemen Salah Hajj Hassan met today with Yemen's Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Othman Hussein  Mujali at FAO Regional Office premises in Cairo.

During the meeting talks focused on the coordinated approach between FAO and Yemen to support Yemeni agriculture, rural development and food security.

Minister Othman commended FAO for the active approach of its representation in Yemen and its effort in protecting the livelihoods of highly vulnerable rural populations dependent on agriculture and local food production.

The minister highlighted in the meeting the government's keenness to continue working with FAO and international organizations operating in Yemen so as to serve the Yemeni people and alleviate their suffering.

FAO's Abdessalam affirmed during the meeting the organization's commitment to support the Yemeni people and  working with partners in the Food Security and Agriculture Cluster to restore agriculture-based livelihoods, increase livestock production and strengthen coordination for food security and agriculture.
