National Level ToT on Agroforestry Promotion and Market Access

Lalitpur-A 5-day National Training on Trainers (ToT) on Agroforestry Promotion and Market Access was organized by FAO project “Enhancing Rural Livelihoods in Underutilized/Abandoned Agriculture Land through Agroforestry (TCP/NEP/3602) from 28 May-1 June 2017 in Lalitpur, Nepal.

The training of trainers was organized aiming at increasing the institutional capacity for the promotion and adoption of agroforestry options and for market access and enterprise development of agroforestry products and services. The ToT was focused on the three components that include selection and adoption of best bet agroforestry options for underutilized/ abandoned agricultural land; promotion of agroforestry based enterprises, and providing training to local level actors. Twenty participants representing supportive government agencies.

TCP/NEP/3602 has been jointly initiated by the government and the FAO through its Technical Cooperation Programme (TCP) since January 2017.  Ministry of Forests and Soil Conservation (MoFSC) is the lead government executing agency. The project is expected to run until September 2018.

The project has a specific objective to meet the requirement of developing and trialling options for generating income from under-utilized/abandoned agricultural land. Currently, the project is being implemented in the districts Kaski and Parbat.
