Province level ToT on Agriculture Sector Integration of Climate Change Adaptation
Biratnagar- A 5-Day Training of Trainers (ToT) on Agriculture Sector Integration of Climate Change Adaptation is initiated on 23 March 2019 at Hotel Asiatique in Biratnagar for government officials from province 1. The training is, jointly organized by Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development of the Federal Government and Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives of Province 1 support by NAP-Ag Project - Supporting Nepal to Integrate Agriculture Sectors into NAPs (UNFA/GLO/616/UND).
The training included 30 agricultural officers as participants from the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives including their directorates, Agribusiness Promotion Support and Training Centres (ABPSTC), Livestock Service Training Centre, Agriculture Knowledge Centres (AKC) and Veterinary Hospitals and Livestock Expert Centres as well some PMAMP Super Zones in the province..
NAP-Ag project, in major, focused on integrating climate change adaptation into agriculture sector particularly through climate change sensitive approaches (methods and tools) introduced in national and sub-national level development planning and budgeting. Developing technical capacity and institutions of agricultural ministries in such regards are major concerns of the project, which are foreseen to reach through delivery of relevant trainings and associated development of training materials.
The plan of interventions in the project has contained methods and tools development, formation of knowledge materials and delivery of trainings specifically in the field of agriculture sector climate change vulnerability and/or risk assessment (CC-VRA), climate change adaptation (CCA) measures identification, economic valuation and investment appraisal of the measures and CCA monitoring and evaluation (CC-M&E). NAP-Ag Project, in line of NAP-Process in the country, is supporting to reduce agriculture sector vulnerability to the impacts of climate change, by building adaptive capacity and resilience, and to facilitate integration of climate change adaptation, in a coherent manner, into relevant sector strategies, policies and programmes.
