Drought is pushing food prices up sharply in East Africa

14 February 2017, Rome--- According to the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization, drought is pushing food prices up sharply in East Africa. The food agency’s latest “Food Price Monitoring and Analysis Bulletin” indicates that local prices for maize, sorghum and other cereals are near or at record levels in areas of Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Uganda and the United Republic of Tanzania.
