Forest Action Event at UN Climate Change Conference (COP22)

8 November 2016, Rome/Marrakech--- Global forests will be in the spotlight today at the UN Climate Conference in Marrakesh, Morocco for a “Forest Action Event”. Stakeholders and decision makers will be taking stock of the progress, challenges and opportunities seen in this sector worldwide. This 22nd session of this conference of parties - also known as COP22 – has been dubbed the “COP for Action”. Governments are expected to make concerted efforts to support domestic action on climate initiatives. According to the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization, forests play a critical role for many countries in their ability to mitigate changing climate.

Eva Muller, Director of FAO’s Forestry Department in Rome, explains more on how these forest issues are evolving. (Interview conducted by Sandra Ferrari)
