21 March 2017, Rome--- On the occasion of the International Day of Forests today, the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization is bringing issues of “wood energy” into the spotlight. According to a new report released today by the organization, up to seven percent of greenhouse gas emissions caused by human activity comes from the production and use of fuelwood and charcoal. The food agency says that “Greening” wood energy is key to mitigating climate change and improving rural livelihoods.
