Pesticide tributyltin added to trade ?watch list?
Over 120 countries party to the Rotterdam Convention agreed to add the pesticide tributyltin to a global trade ?watch list?, but were unable to reach consensus on the inclusion of chrysotile asbestos and the pesticide endosulfan during negotiations in Rome last week. Participating countries agreed that gathering correct information in order to authorize or deny the use of certain substances was important, while developing countries underscored the need for technical assistance and major investments.
