14 November 2013, Rome – The UN’s Rome based agencies have signed an official agreement of partnership for the Milano Expo in 2015. UN Secretary General, Ban-ki Moon, has asked that FAO, WFP and IFAD lead the way to the expo, under the guidance of the UN Commissioner-General. The Expo will happen at a crucial time for the UN family. In 2015, the Millennium Development Goals will be assessed and the Post-2015 agenda will be introduced to the world. In this moment, FAO, IFAD and WFP will collaborate once again, to raise awareness and show solidarity with this event whose mandate and theme - “Feeding the planet, Energy for life” - reflects the key priorities of the UN system. The 2015 Expo expects 20 million visitors, with over 138 countries having already confirmed their participation.
