Committee on World Food Security has a new Chair

11 October, Rome –Ambassador Gerda Verburg of the Netherlands will succeed Ambassador Yaya Olaniran of Nigeria as Chair for the Committee on World Food Security (CFS). The announcement came today during the close of CFS week. Ms Verburg is a Dutch diplomat and former Minister of Agriculture for the Netherlands. Since 2011, she has served as the Permanent Representative of the Netherlands to FAO Headquarters in Rome and has been active in the Organization’s Governing Bodies.

CFS is to be the most inclusive international and intergovernmental platform for all stakeholders to work together to ensure food security and nutrition for all. In the following interview, Ms Verburg explains what needs to be done next by the CFS.
