ICN2: Focusing on nutrition challenges of the 21st century

17 November 2014, Rome--- Malnutrition is one of the world’s most serious but least addressed health and development problems. While 805 million people on the planet regularly do not get enough to eat, a staggering 2 billion suffer from micronutrient deficiencies or other effects of inadequate diet. That's 30 percent of the world population.The 2nd International Conference on Nutrition (ICN2) is the first, high-level global event to focus on the nutrition challenges of the 21st century, and it will take place at FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy from the 19 to 21 November.High-level government representatives from about 150 countries, UN agencies, intergovernmental organizations, members of civil society, foundations, the private sector and experts from around the world will participate.
