17 March 2015, Sendai, Japan--- From the 14 to the 18 of March 2015 world leaders and the international development community will gather in Sendai, Japan for the World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction. The aim of the conference is to help countries build resilience against natural disasters. According to the UNISDER Global Assessment report for 2015, the annual average loss from intensive disasters is estimated at approximately 314 billion dollars. Amid this global dialogue where a number of issues will be put forward, the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization will be bringing a particularly strong message to the table. According to the initial results of a new study being released by FAO, nearly a quarter of damages wrought by natural disasters on the developing world are registered from the agriculture sector.
