Appointment of the Special Ambassadors for the International Year of Soils

10 June 2015, Rome--- The UN General Assembly declared 2015 International Year of Soils in order to highlight their importance as the foundation of global agriculture. After several months of consultation FAO has selected two Special Ambassadors for the International Year of Soils. The two ambassadors, Claire Chenu, a biodiversity expert and Tekalign Mamo, a soil fertility expert, were officially presented today by the FAO Director General of FAO, at a special event, to the members of the 39th Session of the FAO Conference.
