FAO launches digital platform on family farming
©FAO/Khalil Mazraawi
16 June 2015, Rome--- The International year of family farming ended last year but today the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization has launched an online Family Farming platform. Family farmers are arguably the most important link in the farm to plate food chain, yet issues concerning small holders can vary greatly between communities, and countries and regions. The online platform will attempt to bridge the commonalties that do exist within the global community of family farmers, and create a space for an aggregation of information on issues, polices and best practices.

Francesco Pierri is FAO’s focal point for Family Farming and Chief of the Advocacy Unit in FAO’s Office for Partnerships, Advocacy and Capacity Development. In the following interview he explains the need for this new platform and what it will include. (interview conducted by Sandra Ferrari)
