Unprecedented level of food insecurity in South Sudan, UN agencies warn

29 June 2016, Juba--- In South Sudan, 4.8 million people, over one-third of the population, are projected to be in need of urgent food assistance through July. With a risk of famine in some parts of the country the situation is expected to deteriorate further in the coming months. This is according to three UN agencies – The Food and Agriculture Organization, World Food Programme and UNICEF.

Erminio Sacco, Chief Technical Advisor on Food Security for FAO, based in Juba, explains more about the current food security situation in the country. Interview conducted by Sandra Ferrari
