Launch of FAO's new State of Food and Agriculture report (SOFA)
7 March 2011, Rome-Women make up 43 percent of the agricultural labour force in developing countries-A press conference was held at FAO headquarters, to release FAO's new State of Food and Agriculture 2010-2011 report. According to the report, just giving women the same access as men to agricultural resources could increase production in developing countries by 20 to 30 percent, and raise total agricultural production by 2.5 to 4 percent.

The agriculture sector is underperforming in many developing countries due to a wide gender gap; tackling the problem in a most committed manner can boost food production and reduce world hunger.
