15 April 2015, Rome--- As the conflict escalates almost 11 million people in Yemen are severely food insecure. Millions more are at risk of not meeting their basic food needs. This is according to the latest food security assessment released by the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization. The report also indicates that approximately 10.6 million Yemenis are currently food insecure, as increasing conflict in nearly all major towns across the country drive food prices up and disrupts agricultural production. About 16 million out of 26 million people - more than half of Yemen’s population - is in need of humanitarian aid and lacking access to safe water.
