Rome, 24 June 2011- In the context of the 37th session of the FAO Conference, the Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases has officially been launched. The Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases was launched on 16 December 2009 in the margins of the UN climate change conference in Copenhagen, Denmark. The concept originated in New Zealand, but it now spans the globe with over 30 participating countries.

The Alliance is focused on research, development and extension of technologies and practices that will help deliver ways to grow more food and more climate-resilient food systems without growing greenhouse gas emissions. New Zealand Ministers talk about the initiative as a Summit of participating countries takes place in Rome.
