Diouf and the next generation of Swazi farmers
7 September 2008, Mbabane/Swaziland - In Swaziland, farmers are even more vulnerable to soaring food prices because of ongoing challenges to food security, including climate-related problems and one of the world's highest rates of HIV infection. At Boyane, near Mbabane, Jacques Diouf, Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization met orphans and other vulnerable children who are learning agricultural and water conservation skills under the Junior Farmer Field and Life Schools (JFFLS) initiative. The project, run in collaboration with other UN agencies, has benefited about 525 students over the past two years.
