Soaring food prices in Burkina Faso
The shock of soaring food prices hit Burkina Faso particularly hard. In normal years, villagers produce enough to take care of themselves. But last year the rains didn't come - until the season ended with floods which destroyed most of the crops. FAO is supporting the government, with a distribution of four hundred tonnes of seed and fertilizer to 1200 families in the arid Center North region.
