Slowing forest depletion in Malawi
Malawians depend primarily on wood and charcoal for energy. For many rural families affected by HIV and AIDS-related labor shortages, selling wood is the only source of income. FAO projects promote energy efficient stoves and sustainable agriculture to slow the depletion of forest resources.
