Recent FAO studies suggest that between 12 and 16 percent of rice harvested in Asia is lost as a result of poor on-farm post-harvesting practices. If it were possible to reduce these losses by just one-tenth, the amount of food saved in Asia alone would amount to over 5 million tonnes per year. |
