FAO’s Regular Programme budget is funded by its members.
28 May 2009, Rome - During an official visit to Tokyo, the Director-General of FAO, Jacques Diouf, was received by Prime Minister Taro Aso, to discuss the world food situation.
The Japanese Government has paid, on 26 May, the total sum of its contribution to the Regular Budget of the Organization for the year 2009, amounting to $78.4 million. Japan is the second contributor to FAO's budget and has no contribution arrears to the Organization.
