FAO in North America

What We Do

Our activities are about making connections – between FAO and the governments and international institutions in North America certainly, but also between people working together to bring sustained food security and economic opportunity to the nearly one billion people who currently lack them.

Knowledge sharing

Liaison Office staff work closely with partners in government and civil society, adding value to the work of FAO's partners in North America and heightening awareness of FAO’s activities. LOW staff are actively engaged in thematic working groups on such topics as climate change and agriculture, livestock, land tenure, and gender-responsive agricultural development.

The office has established new institutional collaboration with several universities and greater interaction with private-sector companies, particularly in the IT sector.

The Washington office also carries out a wide range of administrative support services in North America, including procurement, income tax administration, communications and financial services.
