Special Information Seminar 2011 “Climate Change and Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture: State of Knowledge, Risks and Opportunities”

On Saturday 16 July 2011, prior to the Thirteenth Regular Session of the Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture, a special information seminar was held at FAO headquarters in Rome under the heading: “Climate Change and Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture: State of Knowledge, Risks and Opportunities.”

The morning session featured presentations on animal, plant, aquatic, forest, micro-organism and invertebrate genetic resources and a panel discussion on risks and opportunities facing genetic resources for food and agriculture in the context of climate change.

During the afternoon the panel addressed the integration of concerns related to genetic resources for food and agriculture into climate change-related activities. Presentations were given on experiences at international, national and community levels.
