Strengthening the FAO GAEZ core capacity to use and maintain GAEZ data

FAO and IIASA organized the third workshop aiming at strengthening the capacity in using, updating and managing the GAEZ database. Workshop 3 is the last workshop in the framework of the transfer of GAEZ v3.0 and supporting climate, soil, terrain and land cover databases to enable on site (FAO HQ) reproduction of data contained in the IIASA/FAO GAEZ data access facility (GAEZv3.0 Data Portal). The agenda includeed the estimation of rain-fed and irrigated cultivated land shares by grid-cell, Land Use and land cover remote sensing data, FAOSTAT, AT2015/30, other prior data, Cultivated land share allocation algorithms, actual yield and production, Spatial allocation of crop statistics to current rain-fed and irrigated cultivated land, Location specific crop-wise production priors, Iterative downscaling procedures, Spatial distribution of crop production (harvested areas, yield and production by grid cell), Estimation of yield and production gaps, Statistics and GAEZ crop potentials, Yield and production gap results, Tanzania, Case study, Climate change impacts and examples of agronomic adaptation, Crop calendar adaptation, Crop rotation, Preparation of case study results and reporting
