GAEZ at the UNGIWG in Istanbul

data.fao.org and the FAO global agro-ecological zones portal has been presented at the 13th plenary session of the United Nations Geographic Information Working Group (UNGIWG-13), Istanbul, Turkey, 28 February 2013 to 3 March 2013.

New dataset available soon in the GAEZ data portal.

The metadata associated to a map is now available with specific information related to the selected aggregation element: Region, Sub Region, Income, Country, and Province. After having selected the aggregating element, select the Metadata icon to access the tabular or the XML format of the customized metadata elements.

The GAEZ portal allows to visualize all metadata associated to maps. In addition to a downlodable version of these metadata in XML, a downloadable PDF option has been made available.

The download option on the data portal allows users to save maps in several formats. The PDF download option has recently been improved: more complete and clearly understood legend has been added, including the scale of the map, references, and links to the online user agreement and disclaimers.

The release of the new GAEZ portal was announced by FAO through the social media networks.
