FAO, Land and Water Division conducted a one week workshop, November 12 - 16, 2012 in Uruguay aiming at training the national experts and re-inforcing the national capacity to undertake consistent assessment of land cover and land cover changes using FAO methodology and tools. In addition, the GAEZ data portal and AEZ methodology for land evaluation based for land use planning and management. The workshop is organized by FAO regional office / FAO Uruguay and the National Agency for Land Use Planning in the framework of the FAO technical cooperation programe "Strengthening of knowledge and development of instruments for land use planning". The national experts received customized training on the FAO land cover change mapping toolbox as well as on the GAEZ data portal and application of the AEZ methodology for Land Evaluation to support land use planning.
