National assessment workshop held in Pretoria PDF Print E-mail

A LADA workshop was held in Pretoria, South Africa, on 16-18 September, 2008, focussing on national land degradation assessment. It was attended by representatives of all LADA countries (Argentina, China, Cuba, Senegal, South Africa and Tunisia) and by two members of SWALIM, a project dealing with land use planning, land degradation mapping and water resources in Somalia. In all 13 different nationalities were present over 3 days of workshop.

The meeting allowed evaluating the progress of each LADA country in achieving its objectives. It resulted in an exchange of information at all assessment levels and identified a number of bottlenecks which can now be tackled with more ease.
